Ellington Sacred Concert

Conductor Neil Taylor
Soloist Louise Clare Marshall
and
The Cotton Tail Orchestra

Duke Ellington, one of the jazz greats, was a prolific composer and deeply religious. His Sacred Concert, written and performed between 1968 and 1973, combines jazz, classical, choral, spiritual, gospel, blues and dance music: a joyous celebration of love, life and freedom. Louise Marshall’s smouldering voice spans the genres, and the Cotton Tail Orchestra is led by jazz trumpeter Graham South.
