Bach St John Passion

Conductor Neil Taylor
Accompanist Pete Durrant

with Baroque in the North

Bach’s masterpiece: Few classical works have the urgency and dramatic immediacy of Bach’s St John Passion, which takes you on an emotional roller-coaster, swept in by the beauty of the opening chorus, racked by haunting solos, frightened by vicious crowd scenes and soothed by sublime music of gentle reflection and meditation.

Walton: Belshazzar’s Feast
Vaughan Williams: Five Mystical Songs
Williams Penillion: Ives The Unanswered Question

Conductor Neil Taylor

Conductor Ben Ellin

Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra
Baritone Peter Savidge

Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast is astonishingly vivid and colourful, now established as one of the pinnacles of 20th-century choral music. We are very pleased to be collaborating with Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra, singing with them at their June concert in Huddersfield Town Hall. They in turn are visiting Gorton Monastery on the 26th June to play their part in our June concert.
